PRO: McDonald comes to Detroit for his fifth NFL season after signing a two-year contract March 15. He reunites with Lions Offensive Coordinator Mike Martz who was St. Louis’ head coach when the Rams drafted him in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.

College
• Finished Sun Devils career with 2,867 yards receiving, 126 shy of the school career-record of 2,993 yards by John Jefferson (1974-77), and sixth on the Pac-10’s all-time record list.
• Selected to all-America third-team by The NFL Draft Report, Associated Press, and The Sporting News as senior in addition to an all-Pac 10 first-team choice.
• Finalist for Biletnikoff Award which annually is given to the nation’s top receiver.
• Set school season-records with 87 catches for 1,405 yards and 13 touchdowns.
• All-Pac 10 first-team choice as junior.
• Caught 22 passes for 358 yards and one touchdown as sophomore and redshirted as true freshman.

Year-by-Year

2006: Played in all 16 games and contributed on offense and special teams. He registered 13 receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown and was effective as a punt returner, finishing with 23 returns for 172 yards (7.5 avg.).
• After Week 5, tied for second on the NFC’s punt return list.
• Made first touchdown reception of season Week 8 at San Diego, a 7-yard pass from QB Marc Bulger in the fourth quarter.
• In the Rams’ contest against the Redskins on Christmas Eve (12/24), he had a season-long 33-yard punt return in overtime that set-up a game-winning touchdown run by RB Steven Jackson.

2005: Had his most productive season in 2005 with 46 receptions for 523 yards in 16 games (two starts).
• Opened the season with seven receptions for 73 yards, including a long of 19, at San Francisco (9/11).
• Put in a career performance at New York Giants (10/2), pulling in nine catches for 121 yards. Both were career highs.
• Followed up the following week with five receptions for 55 yards against Seattle (10/9).
• Hauled in six passes for 51 yards vs. Philadelphia (12/18).

2004: Emerged as a steady contributor in his second pro season, finished with 37 receptions for 494 yards.
• Scored his first NFL touchdown (6 yards) at San Francisco (10/3).
• Had a career-long 52-yard touchdown in overtime to give St. Louis a win at Seattle (10/10).
• Garnered four receptions for 77 yards and a touchdown at Miami (10/24).
• Finished with a season-high six receptions in consecutive weeks: at Buffalo (72 yards) and at Green Bay (79 yards).
• Registered four receptions for 37 yards in divisional playoff game at Atlanta (1/15).

2003: Finished first season with 10 receptions for 62 yards while playing in eight games (one start).
• McDonald debuted in the Rams’ season opener at New York Giants (9/7) and had six receptions for 46 yards before suffering a thumb injury which sidelined him for the next four games.
• Saw limited action in seven games while trying to recover from opening day injury

• Had five kickoff returns for touchdowns as senior in addition to 800 yards receiving and 1,700 all-purpose yards.
• Set state record for most career kickoff returns for touchdowns with 14.
• Lettered three times in football and four times each in soccer and track and field.
